Originally trained in law in Turkey, Berfin Gerz moved to Miami to follow a deeper calling rooted in movement, connection, and well-being. What she brought with her wasn’t a fixed plan, but a clear vision and a genuine passion for yoga and Pilates. “I stopped waiting for opportunities”, she says. “I started creating something of my own”.
She didn’t plan a professional change; she planned a life change. “It completely transformed my life, my lifestyle, my everything”, she reflects. And somewhere in that process of rebuilding from scratch, she realized she wasn’t just teaching. She was building something new.
Real yoga, not the filtered kind
In a city where fitness scene is crowded, and yoga is everywhere, Berfin stands for something more intentional. “Everyone is doing yoga right now, but not everyone is truly experiencing it”, she notes. “For me, yoga goes beyond social media. It’s about how it makes you feel, both physically and mentally”.

She isn’t interested in the filtered version. Her practice runs deeper, in transformation rather than trend. For her, teaching isn’t just about movement, it’s about helping people feel better in their bodies and calmer in their minds. A healthy lifestyle isn’t just something she teaches, it’s something she lives every day. “Yoga and Pilates support me both physically and mentally”, she adds. “It keeps me grounded”. That authenticity extends to how she runs her business.
Berf teaches in-person classes across Miami and online sessions, connecting with people from different parts of the world and making movement accessible beyond physical boundaries. But ask her what keeps her going and the answer is immediate. “My students. When I see their growth, when I see their smiles, it truly touches me”.
That intimacy is intentional. For her, connection is the whole point. Her vision for the future reflects that same philosophy: a two-floor space where the first level has a coffee shop stocked with healthy food, and the second is open for yoga, Pilates, strength, flexibility, and workshops. Open every hour, every day, for adults, children, everyone. “A space where people truly feel like they belong “, she says.
It’s a dream she holds with remarkable clarity and calm. Not a distant fantasy, but a direction she’s already walking toward, one class, one student, one morning practice at a time.
When asked what she’d tell anyone just starting out, her message is simple: “Be yourself, follow your passions, don’t copy. Just create”.
