In a city that runs on stimulation, ambition, and noise, Nikki found a different question worth asking: what if sound could do the opposite? Not add more input, but create space for the body to finally rest. That question became Sōna, a sound healing sanctuary built around stillness, nervous system regulation, and the kind of presence that Miami rarely allows.
Sound as a doorway
A session at Sōna looks deceptively simple. People lie down, get comfortable, and are guided into stillness through gongs, crystal bowls, and layered frequencies that create an immersive experience for the body and mind. No experience required. No meditation background needed. “You don’t have to be spiritual, experienced in meditation, or know anything about nervous system work”, Nikki explains. “You just have to arrive as you are”.

What happens next is harder to put into words. “For many people, it’s one of the first moments they’ve had in a long time where nothing is being demanded from them”, she says. “No pressure to produce, fix, or perform. Just space to breathe, feel, and soften”. People leave describing not just relaxation, but something closer to a return. “I didn’t realize how much I needed that”, that’s what she hears, again and again.
The science behind it is real: sound reaches the body beyond language, giving the mind less to hold onto and allowing the nervous system to shift out of survival mode. But Nikki is careful to keep it grounded. “I wasn’t interested in creating another wellness trend or escape from reality”, she says. “I wanted to create an environment where people could feel safe enough to slow down and return to themselves”.
The person and the journey behind the sound
Nikki has always been deeply sensitive to energy, emotion, and the environments around her, long before she had language for it. Sound healing entered her life during a period of personal transformation, and the impact was unlike anything she had experienced before. “It wasn’t about forcing healing or fixing myself”, she recalls. “It was about creating enough stillness and awareness for my body to begin responding naturally”. That experience changed the direction of her life, and Sōna was built from that understanding.
Entrepreneurship, for Nikki, has meant learning to communicate something deeply experiential in a clear and grounded way. “One of the biggest challenges has been building something that people don’t immediately understand”, she admits. Sound healing exists outside of traditional wellness spaces for many people, and that gap requires patience, consistency, and a strong sense of direction. But she’s also clear about what the process has given her. “Entrepreneurship is not just the process of building a business”, she says. “It’s the process of building yourself. Every challenge teaches you something. Every obstacle asks you to grow into the next version of who you’re becoming”.
To anyone starting out, her advice is direct: “Trust yourself before anything else. Building something meaningful requires learning how to stay connected to your vision even during the moments where nothing feels certain yet. You are more capable than you think you are”.
